Case Study

Glen Franks Case Study

glen franksI set up my business taking people out sea fishing, 2 years ago but I didn’t get a website until quite recently. I’m not that technical, so although I knew I wanted a site, I just couldn’t get my head round how to go about it. One thing I did know was that I didn’t have lots of money for a custom made one, so it was going to be up to me to make the site.

I ended up trying two different site builders (based on reviews on other comparison sites) and neither really worked for me. Unfortunately, I lost about 6 months in time and quite a bit of cash. The headache all that caused definitely took the shine off my excitement with expanding the business, but looking on the positive side I guess I did learn quite a bit about what I needed for my site. (To be honest I really had no clue at all!)

I think the combination of user reviews, Editors’ input and the comparison table together renewed my confidence to get the site sorted once and for all. I can’t tell you how good I feel about it all now!

Anyway not to be defeated I knew that one of the website builders would do the job and it was just a matter of finding the right one. While searching I found RealComparisons. From then on  there was no more swimming upstream and hitting rocks! I spent time reading the editors reviews and especially those of other users to really find the best website builder for me. Then when I felt like I understood more about different options, pros and cons of features and so on, I went straight to the indepth comparison tables. They helped me make my final choice and I knew it was the right one.

I think it was only minutes later that I signed up with GoDaddy. They had a good selection of templates, were easy to use, and I could get help if I needed it. GoDaddy rep’s were really professional when I needed advice, although it was mostly really easy. I had the site set up within days.

There are some great features, apart from being able to showcase my business, I can get customers interested with different discount offers, along with tracking systems to find out what customers like. I am excited all over again. It seems pretty straightforward now compared to only a few months ago when I felt like throwing in my fishing reel!

the boatI am steadily getting to grips with learning SEO, so I am confident things will get even better. I sometimes even blog from the boat via my mobile phone now, so marketing my business doesn’t even feel like work. My social media is all connected up, so if it’s raining, I just hang out with other fishing enthusiasts there. This brings lots more followers and they share my posts with fishing enthusiasts, so who knows where this might go in the next year or two!

If it hadn’t been for RealComparisons, I could have missed out on peak season bookings. I get enquiries daily via my site which has more than paid for itself from only being set up in Spring. My turnover has tripled since I built my website and I’m hoping if things continue like this I’ll be able to buy another boat next year and hire a few helpers.

I think the combination of user reviews, Editors’ input and the comparison table together renewed my confidence to get the site sorted once and for all. I can’t tell you how good I feel about it all now!
